VR FleetCare secures major order for heavy transport wagons for the Norwegian and Swedish Defence Forces

VR FleetCare, the rail fleet maintenance and wagon manufacturer; Bane NOR, the Norwegian owner of the track infrastructure; the Norwegian Defence Materiel Administration and the Swedish Defence Forces have signed a contract for the design and series production of new heavy transport wagons. The design of the wagon has already started, and production will start during 2025.

The first VR branded train from Stockholm to Gothenburg

The operation for the first VR branded green train has started, featuring a new exterior design, on the Stockholm–Gothenburg route in Sweden. VR acquired the long-distance train operations of MTRX in May. The operations will now continue under the VR brand, with customer service available at vrresa.se.

VR Group Financial Statements Release: Net sales and profitability improved clearly

VR Group's net sales and profitability clearly improved in 2024. The growth in net sales and profitability was driven by an increase in travel volumes, an acquisition in Sweden, and new city traffic agreements. Profitability was also improved by determined profit improvement measures, in line with strategy.

VR wins the tender for Öresundståg traffic in southern Sweden

VR Sverige AB wins the purchase traffic agreement for Öresundståg in southern Sweden. Operations under the agreement will start in December 2025 and continue until the end of 2030. The agreement also includes the maintenance of the rolling stock. High quality and insights about the development of rail traffic concluded the competition in VR's favour.

Already 160 years on the rails

Regular train traffic started between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna on 17 March 1862. Railways have played a key role in the development of Finnish society – and continue to do so.
